If so, Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV) is looking for a multi-tasking, customer service-focused Veterinary Receptionist to join our amazing non-profit organization!
The ideal candidate has at least 6 months of previous administrative and receptionist experience, is willing to clean and transport animals between two facilities, has at least 6 months of animal care experience, is a highly-motivated self-starter and is seeking to increase their level of knowledge to handle increased responsibility over time.
For over 30 years, AFV has been helping animals in need, and we now support our local communities of Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, Wildomar, Menifee and parts of Riverside County. We provide a safe haven for all animals and provide them quality and affordable care.
Summary of Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Clinic Operations, this position is responsible for client care and communication, and providing excellent client service at all times. The S/N Clinic Veterinary Receptionist will also perform clerical duties which include the care and treatment of animals, processing payments, answering and directing phone calls, and provide miscellaneous support to the clinic including the transportation of animals between the clinic and the shelter.
·Assists Director of Clinic Operations by performing administrative and secretarial duties, including making appointments, data entry of pet information including owner’s info, pet info, vaccination and procedures.
·Answers incoming calls in a friendly and courteous manner.
·Contacts clients to confirm appointments; provides clients with information or instructions they will need prior to their appointment.
·Administers vaccinations and microchips to client’s pets.
·Assists visitors and guests by answering questions and providing information.
·Checks in patients using shelter software.
·Completes required forms, such a new patient form, and obtain all necessary information.
·Maintains a professional, cheerful and helpful attitude when interacting with clients.
·Accurately processes payments.
·Assists other staff in keeping public areas clean and odor-free.
·Calls owners for early pickup of surgery clients.
·Transport animals to and from the clinic to the shelter
·Assist in keeping current inventory of necessary program supplies
·Represent AFV by providing excellent customer service, patient care and focus.
·Protect the confidential information on customers and donors.
·Clean assigned areas on a daily basis.
·Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Certifications and/or Education
·Valid California Class “C” driver’s license
·High School, GED or equivalent is required.
·Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
·Six (6) months of full time work experience involving animal care/handling in an animal control/care agency, a Humane Society, or a veterinary clinic is preferred.
·2-5 years of high volume spay/neuter clinic or veterinary office managing experience preferred.
·Experience can compensate Post-Secondary Education.
·Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

·Perform euthanize of animals by injection, recognize symptoms of rabies and other common diseases and injuries in animals.

·Duties will be performed in animal shelter / shelter clinic environment, where you might be exposed to animal odors, diseases, possible contagious conditions, bites, scratches and moderate noise level.
·Sitting at a computer workstation up to eight hours.
