If so, Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV) is seeking a Full-Time Custodian to join our amazing non-profit Team!
The ideal candidate will have a strong custodial and janitorial background with basic maintenance and landscaping skills; be highly motivated and self-starting; and be able to work in a dynamic, constantly changing environment.
For over 30 years, AFV has been helping animals in need, and we now support our local communities of Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, Wildomar, Menifee and parts of Riverside County. We provide a safe haven for all animals and provide them quality and affordable care.
Summary of Duties:
Under general supervision of the Director of Clinic Operations (DCO), this position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and general upkeep of the facility and grounds per established policies and procedures.
The following Core Competencies are essential to performing at a high level at AFV. They will be measured during the Introductory Period and beyond to measure growth and aid in determining succession planning.
Job knowledge – While this is considered an entry-level position, Standard Operating Procedures, Training Checklist(s) and Mentorship are provided along with performance evaluations during the Introductory Period and regularly afterwards to measure growth in job knowledge. A strong foundation is key to growth.
Customer service, interpersonal skills, oral and written communication and teamwork are all essential interpersonal skills required for this position.
Organizational support and strong ethics are critical to success and growth.

Skills and Abilities:
Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform moderate to heavy physical work both outdoor and indoor in all weather conditions and with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions; use varied hand and power tools; drive a motor vehicle and/or heavy construction equipment; lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment and good body mechanics; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone and/or radio. Must be available for regular standby assignments and work scheduled off-hours and emergency overtime as required. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves and face mask as required.
Must be patient and tolerant of loud environments (barking), humidity, dog waste, odor and hair. Exposure to zoonotic diseases. Subject to possibility for animal bites and scratches.
This is a non-supervisory position.
